Warren Apartments

The Warren Apartments building is a new, affordable housing development located in Chicago, Illinois. The project consists of an all precast concrete structure including exterior load bearing architectural walls, interior demising walls, stair and elevator shafts, and hollowcore plank flooring. Architectural wall panels were solid with white cement, inlaid thin brick, tint additive, light abrasive blast, and vertical form liner with column effects. This project was erected on a tight city lot with access only from the north side (Warren Avenue) which required a very large crane to boom over the entire structure to set the south half of the building. In addition to this limitation, an adjacent residential building was fully occupied during construction. ATMI Precast worked closely with the architect and general contractor to provide an economical solution to incorporate all design features. This project was erected in roughly 8 weeks plus field activities. This building was designed by Valerio DeWalt Train Architects, constructed by Linn Mathes Construction Co. and erected by Waubonsee Development.
