Illinois Masonic Medical Center Parking Garage

This new development, located on the Illinois Masonic Hospital campus in Chicago, consists of 3.5 elevated levels of parking and a first level physical therapy center. The project includes high-end architectural finishes including architectural precast concrete, glass curtain wall, and architectural screening.

The architectural precast concrete components include smaller thin brick panels arranged in a staggered pattern, and is completed by architectural screening and glass. The balance of the architectural products include thin brick for the stair towers and white cement/acid etch panels for the balance of the building. Additional features include: precast concrete beams, columns, TT’s, stair/elevator towers, load bearing/non-load bearing precast walls, and ramp walls.

The main entrance is located on Sheffield Avenue and all of the architectural components will be in view from Sheffield. This is a tight site for erection, and further challenged by the proximity of the elevated rail on the east elevation. Due to the rail restrictions and the necessity to maintain 24 hour access for the hospital, the logistics and work hours vary on a daily basis.

This project has been designed by the Smith Group, constructed by Turner Construction, and erected by Waubonsee Development.
