This new recreation center located on the near south side of Chicago, is being constructed for the Chicago Park District. Overall, the facility is 90,000 square feet complete with Flex Space court areas with a clear span of approximately 180’. In addition to the main court area, there is an elevated running track, separate basketball court areas, and office and flex space for community meetings. The project consists of insulated load bearing exterior walls, and an interior line of steel columns to minimize the clear span. Panels are 12” insulated with continuous insulation and gray form finish with heavy reveals and molds. Architectural precast column wraps are provided for the feature entry area. Project was designed by SMNG-A Ltd. and the General Contractor is Burling Builders. Project is being erected by Waubonsee Development and is scheduled to be complete late 2019.
