Meta's New Data Center Campus in DeKalb

Release Date

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, plans to build the largest data center in Illinois.

The social media and advertising giant is nearing completion of two (2) data center buildings already underway in DeKalb totaling about 900,000 square feet. Now it plans to add three (3) more buildings that will bring the data center to 2.4 million square feet at a cost of more than $1 billion, including equipment. ATMI Precast is proud to share that they are the precast concrete provider for all buildings.

Data-center construction is accelerating here and across the country with growth in streaming of video and games, as well as the ongoing shift of more business software and data to "cloud" computing providers. So-called hyperscale users, such as Meta and others, are gobbling up huge amounts of computing and storage capacity, resulting in massive data centers.

These buildings are constructed by Mortenson and designed by Sheehan Nagle Hartray Architects.
